Susie & Bill Trunk are residents of Orland Park's Historic District and share the passion of preservation that so many of their neighbors enjoy.

It has always been their dream to open a store in the Historic District where they have met fellow neighbors and business owners who share with them their desire to keep the Historic District a unique shopping experience unlike any other.

They are both proud of Susie's Trunk Show and invite you to stop in and introduce yourself to them and share with them your own experiences on how this community has grown over the last century.

Now, Trunk has taken her show on the road by opening Susie's Trunk Show & Emporium at 9959 W. 143rd St. in Orland Park. The shop opened Nov. 20. With a mixture of upscale antiques from estate sales, including classic phonographs, sewing machines, jewelry and more, combined with items handpicked by Trunk from Chicago's Merchandise Mart, the new shop in the Old Orland Historic District has been welcomed with open arms. "I have helped people decorate their homes. I wasn't in the industry, but I loved it," Trunk said, who travels to the Merchandise Mart every other week to gather new items. "The neighborhood has supported it so much —its been wonderful." Opening the shop was a bit of a whirlwind. One of the things Trunk is pleased to have in her shop is high-end paper products — notecards, napkins and more. "I like unique things and you can't get these anywhere else," she said. "They are just gorgeous." Plenty of hostess gifts fill the back room, as well as a special section for the four-legged friends with all-natural dog treats. Trunk also carries the Miche purse line, as well as scarves, imported linens, furniture and more.
